This project protected water rights in two reservoirs by removing dead and downed beetle-killed spruce trees that had accumulated in the spillways and on the dam faces. The trees were removed using dynamite, as the spruce lakes are located in a wilderness area. Removing the trees also improved fish habitat for a recreational population of Rio Grande cutthroat trout.
